Summer Car Care Tips from Key Hyundai

The weather was finally terrific today and it made me think of summer.  Many of our customers at Key Hyundai of Manchester, CT’s Hyundai dealer, ask if there’s anything special they should do to prepare their Hyundai for the summer.  I came across the tips listed below on the internet from the National Association for Service Excellence.  They are the governing body that certifies technicians for independent repair shop.  At Key Hyundai of Manchester, all of our technicians are Hyundai certified.   We are happy to service your Hyundai whether you bought it from us at Key Hyundai of Manchester, or from Lia Hyundai in Hartford or Lia Hyundai in Enfield, or any other Hyundai dealer.  Here are the tips:

·        Read the owner’s manual and follow the recommended service schedules. The manual contains a complete checklist of services and schedules and other important information about your vehicle.

·        To prevent engine overheating, summer’s number-one vehicle problem, make sure your engine’s cooling system is in top shape. Flush and refill the radiator according to the service manual’s instructions. The level, condition, and concentration of the coolant should be checked periodically. If you are doing your own work, make sure the engine has cooled down before removing the radiator cap.

·        A qualified auto technician should check the tightness and condition of belts, clamps, and hoses. Most do-it-yourselfers do not have the proper equipment. But you can look for signs of wear, cracking, or frayed belts. Have belts and hoses replaced according to the service manual’s intervals or sooner if you notice wear and tear so as to prevent sudden breakdowns.

·        Have engine performance problems like hard starts, rough idling, and stalling corrected. You’ll get better gasoline mileage and you can catch minor problems before they grow into more expensive repairs later on.

·        If you are not a do-it-yourselfer, look for repair facilities with vehicles in the parking lot equal in value to your own, modern equipment in the service bays, and signs of qualified automotive technicians as evidenced by trade school diplomas, certificates of advanced course work and training classes.

·        Have a marginally operating air conditioner system serviced by a qualified technician. The air conditioners on older vehicles often contain ozone-depleting chemicals that could be released into the air through improper or incompetent service.

·        Change the oil and oil filter as specified in owner’s manual. (Properly dispose of used oil.) Surveys of technicians indicate that this is the most neglected service, and one that can greatly reduce the life of your vehicle. Replace other filters (air, fuel, PCV, etc.) as recommended in the service manual.

·        Check the condition of tires, including the spare. Let the tires “cool down” before checking their pressure. Uneven wear, ‘cupping,’ vibrations, or ‘pulling’ to one side indicates problems with your tires or suspension system.

·        Routine brake inspection and service is important for safety and can save you money in the long wrong. Failure to replace worn brake pads, for example, can result in more expensive damage to rotors and wheels.

·        Don’t neglect your transmission. Costly repairs can be prevented by routine service of this often-neglected system.

·        For safety and convenience, inspect all lights and bulbs; replace burned out bulbs. Replace worn wiper blades and keep plenty of washer solvent on hand to fight summer’s dust and insects.

If you follow these tips, your Hyundai is sure to be in good working order for the summer driving season.  As always, for more information you can visit us on the web at www.driveworryfree.com  We are CT’s Hyundai dealer, serving Hartford Hyundai customers, Enfield Hyundai customers, Willimantic Hyundai customers, Meriden Hyundai customers and everyone in between.  We will service your Hyundai whether you bought your Hyundai in Hartford, your Hyundai in Enfield, or anywhere else.

Key Hyundai Owner Explores Her Hometown of Madison, CT

Tips on Taking a Sunday Drive to Madison, CT

I talk a lot about my current life – I’m the owner of Key Hyundai of Manchester, I have two great kids and I live in West Hartford, CT. But, what you may not know is that I grew up in Madison, CT and even crazier, I was president of my high school class at Daniel Hand High.

I was just in Madison on Wednesday night visiting my mom. It dawned on me that I should post about what a great town Madison is and what you should do on a Sunday drive to town. So, here it goes:

1. Getting there – Instead of taking 91 to 95, I would recommend taking Route 9 through the lights in Middletown and exiting at Route 17. Follow Route 17 all the way through Durham onto Madison, CT. When you get the the traffic circle, exit onto Route 79 and follow it all the way into downtown Madison.   This is a much more scenic route.  You may even want to stop in some of the shops in Durham.

2. First Stop – Get a cup of coffee at Willougby’s Coffee. Not only will you enjoy the coffee, but they have great pastries too.

2. Visit RJ Julia’s Booksellers – This store is a real treat! You can spend hours here. A lot of the books have handwritten reviews by staff posted in front of them. This is one of my all-time favorite places to hang out.  RJ Julia’s just released their Top 100 Bookclub Books.  So, check it out while you are there.

3. Wander around the town – The stores are all amazing. My husband and I love the Madison Wine Shop. Of course, it’s closed on Sunday but if you are there any other day of the week, be sure to stop in and chat with Rick. He is amazingly knowledgeable and friendly. Behind the wine shop is a great cheese shop. Make sure you walk down Wall Street (the cross road in town). There are plenty more shops down this road.

4. Get some lunch – Get back in your car (hopefully your Hyundai) and head back up Route 1 North until you come to Lenny and Joe’s Fish Tail on the left hand side of the road. This place is an institution! All my highschool friends worked there. You will not be disappointed in the food quality.

5. Walk off your lunch – Take a right out of Lenny and Joe’s and in 1/4 mile you can turn left into Hammonasset State Park. If the park is open and you don’t want to pay, you can park on the road leading into the gate and take a nice walk into the park.

Hopefully you are good and tired and now ready to head home.

We Got our First Genesis Coupe at Key Hyundai

I pulled up to Key Hyundai of Manchester today to see our first Genesis Coupe. And, it is amazingly beautiful. When I walked in our resident tuner, Jon Buttero told me that if I could get 30 Genesis Coupes for him he could sell them all. This car has the buzz attached to it. Our first sale is a customer ordered Genesis Coupe for our friend Jeff and CIP Motorsports in Milford, CT. Jeff is an after-market parts guy and a racer. He is going to tune his Genesis Coupe and race it this summer. Visit Jeff at www.genracer.com We’ve heard that some CT Hyundai dealers aren’t allowing customers to test drive the Genesis Coupe but that is not the case here at Key Hyundai of Manchester. So, to test drive the Genesis Coupe, come down to Key Hyundai of Manchester or visit us on the web at www.driveworryfree.com Thanks for making us CT’s Hyundai dealer servicing Enfield Hyundai buyers, Hartford Hyundai buyers, and all CT Hyundai buyers inbetween.

Key Hyundai Enthusiasts Get Ready – The Genesis Coupe is Around the Corner!

I can really feel the buzz continuing to build around the Genesis Coupe.  I just found this great review in edmunds.com.  Click here to read it:  http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FullTests/articleId=144746

I just can’t wait until we get our first one!  Don’t worry though, when we see that truck roll into Key Hyundai of Manchester, CT’s Hyundai dealer, we will post out on this blog right away.   The Genesis Coupe is going to be able to accomplish what the Hyundai Tiburon never did – real, mainstream interest.  Hyundai went about this right this time.  Hyundai knew that they had to shore up interest in the tuner market by making the Genesis Coupe modifiable.  As I’ve said before, if you are looking for after-market racing parts for the Genesis Coupe, please visit our friends at CIP Motorsports at www.genracer.com  We are so happy to be Hartford’s Hyundai dealer, servicing the greater Hartford Hyundai market.  We think the Hyundai Genesis Coupe will play really nicely to all the car enthusiasts in our area.  We are currently taking orders for the Genesis Coupe because the initial supply is going to be slim.  If you live in the Hartford area and are considering a high performance sports car, make sure you look at the Hyundai Genesis Coupe.  Sounds like you won’t be disappointed.  If you are interested, be sure to visit us at www.driveworryfree.com

Key Hyundai Open Sunday to Accomodate End of the Month Rush

At Key Hyundai of Manchester we always struggle with opening on Sunday.  For years, Connecticut was a blue law state and didn’t allow car dealers to be open on Sundays.  But, the laws have changed and we are allowed to do as we wish.  The problem with being open on Sundays is that it burns out our employees and we find a lot of customers like to browse the lot on Sundays.  We have come up with a compromise at Key Hyundai of Manchester.  We are open the last Sunday of the month.  So, this Sunday, Key Hyundai of Manchester is open from 11am – 4pm to better serve you and make your Hyundai buying experience less rushed.  Visit us on the internet at www.driveworryfree.com to schedule your appointment to test drive a car this Sunday from 11am to 4pm.  Key Hyundai of Manchester looks forward to becoming your CT Hyundai dealer.  We service Hartford’s Hyundai buyers, Enfield’s Hyundai buyers and Hyundai buyers throughout Connecticut.

Cool Picture of the Elantra Touring – 200 Soccer Balls Fit in the Trunk

200 Soccer Balls in an Elantra Touring

One of our sales consultants, Jon Butero  at Key Hyundai of Manchester found this picture of the Hyundai Elantra Touring with 200 soccer balls loaded in it.  I thought it was pretty cool.  The reality is that if you don’t want an SUV, a pick up truck or mini-van, there are very few options that still offer cargo space that the Hyundai Elantra Touring does.  I am a child of the ’70s and all my friends folks had station wagons.  Now, the station wagon is pretty much a thing of the past.  I remember flopping around from the middle seat into the rear seat – no car seats, no safety restraints.  It’s crazy to think about now!  Anyways, enough about me.  If you are looking for a great small sized vehicle with the option to cart a ton of cargo, the Hyundai Elantra Touring is for you.  The Hyundai Elantra Touring fits right in between the Elantra sedan and the Hyundai Tucson.  Make sure to research the vehicle and then come visit us at www.driveworryfree.com At Key Hyundai of Manchester, we are CT’s Hyundai dealer, serving Hartford’s Hyundai buyers, Enfield’s Hyundai buyers and everywhere in between.   We are happy to show you the Hyundai Elantra Touring even if you are just curious and aren’t in the market for a new car.  If you are tempted while you visit us, you can feel good about your purchase because Hyundai offers the Hyundai Assurance Plus.  It takes the stress out of buying.

For Hyundai Assurance, Imitation is the Best Form of Flattery

The huge dealer group, AutoNation, just announced a payment protection program in case you lose your job. Wait, where have I heard about that before? Oh yeah, Hyundai Assurance. Imitation is the best form of flattery. Hyundai is rocking because of great reviews, great incentives and an early jump on shoring up consumer confidence with Hyundai Assurance. Every other manufacturer is now trying to get into the game. But, just like with America’s Best Warranty, no one will totally come close. First of all, I read that in AutoNation’s program there is a 90 day “cooling off” period. What does that mean? Second, it’s only good in the event of involuntary termination. With Hyundai Assurance, there are a ton of qualifying events, including closing down your own business, foreign placement, etc. So, come into Key Hyundai of Manchester and look at a new Hyundai, whether it’s a Sonata, Elantra, Accent, Santa Fe or the new Genesis. At Key Hyundai of Manchester, we are CT’s Hyundai dealer, serving Hartford, Enfield, Willimantic, and beyond. Visit us at www.driveworryfree.com

Here is Reuter’s article on Auto Nation:

By Poornima Gupta

DETROIT (Reuters) – AutoNation Inc (AN.N) rolled out a new incentive program on Wednesday that covers up to six months of car payments on new or used vehicles for consumers who lose their jobs.

The program, “Payment Protection,” will cover the payments as the buyer looks for a new job, said Mike Maroone, president of AutoNation, the country’s largest dealership chain, in an interview.

“It is especially timely in this environment,” he said. “There are really two big issues in retailing, availability of credit and consumer confidence.”

“This attacks the consumer confidence issue,” Maroone added.

The program, similar to one by Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Co Ltd (005380.KS), costs nothing for the buyer, and comes as U.S. auto sales plunged to 9.3 million units on an annualized basis, a 27-year low, in January and February.

The program, launched at 33 South Florida dealerships on Wednesday, excludes business purchases and may launch nationwide, Maroone said.

AutoNation, which owns and operates 313 new vehicle franchises in 15 states, will provide the payments to cover the vehicle loan or lease during the first year following the purchase.

There is an initial 90-day waiting period and the worker must be involuntarily terminated by the employer.

Hyundai Sonata – Key Hyundai’s Featured Car of the Month

Every month my brother Jeff and I work hard to figure out what car we can advertise to drive people through the door of Key Hyundai of Manchester, CT.  We like to advertise a deal that is appealing to a large group of people.  In other words, rather than advertising a cheap stick shift just to get you in the door, we like to discount an automatic and let you come in and by the car you want at the price that was advertised.  This month, we are featuring the Hyundai Sonata.  Through March 31st, you can come into Key Hyundai of Manchester and buy a brand new 2009 Hyundai Sonata LX and we will double the $2,000 rebate.  That means that we will give you an additional $2,000 off the Hyundai Sonata LX – you pick the car, you pick the features, you take $4,000 off of MSRP.  It’s as easy as that.  Or,  you can buy a brand new 2009 Hyundai Sonata GLS for $15,488.  Again, you come in, you pick the car, you pay $15,488 no questions asked.  Visit us on the web at www.driveworryfree.com for more information.  We are Key Hyundai of Manchester, CT’s Hyundai dealer, serving Hartford, Manchester, Enfield, Willimantic and beyond.

Do you know what the tuner market is? The Hyundai Genesis Coupe is staring it in the eye

I’m turning 40 in less two months and I’m starting to feel old.   I mean, I’m not starting to feel old physically or mentally, I’m starting to feel old from a pop culture perspective.  When I was a kid, people “suped up” their cars, now they tune them.  And, those that tune them are called tuners.  In fact, a whole multi million dollar market is built around the tuners.  The demographic of a tuner is someone 18-25 years old, who is into cars and wants to spend a lot of money on after-market parts to dress it up.   This demographic lives on the internet and spends a ton of time on tuner forums.

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe has already gained access to this club.  And as I’ve learned, once you gain access, the viral marketing takes over and a sensation is created.  So, why the Hyundai Genesis Coupe?  Well, first of all, the entry price for the car is reasonable.  Second,  the buzz is amazing.  And, third and most importantly, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe is built to be modified.

We’ve learned a lot about the tuner market and the Hyundai Genesis Coupe from our friend Jeff at CIP Motorsports in Milford, CT.  Jeff is an after-market parts supplier.  He’s made a name for himself over the years in the Nissan 240SX.  Jeff is now betting the farm on the Hyundai Genesis Coupe.  He has invested in parts before the car is even out.  And, he has a website built to sell these parts.  Visit his site at:  http://www.genracer.com/

We expect our first Genesis Coupe to hit our Manchester, CT Hyundai showroom in a matter of days.  If you are interested in test driving it, please email our resident tuner, Jon, at jbuttero@driveworryfree.com  His excitement is contagious.

As always, you can visit us on the web at www.driveworryfree.com  Thanks for helping us to be CT’s Hyundai dealer, serving Enfield, Hartford, Manchester, Willimantic and beyond.
