Key Hyundai Toy Drive for Connecticut Children

Donate new toys at Key Hyundai for the We Are The Children Christmas Toy Drive!

Ever wonder how you can donate toys so they end up in with a Connecticut child that is in desperate need of a holiday gift?

Gary Craig and We Are The Children, the 96.5TIC FM charity  with a tremendous local support, is committed to raising funds for abandoned, battered, disadvantaged and needy children, and getting a toy into every child’s hands at their huge celebration on Christmas morning at the XL Center in Hartford.

Key Hyundai of Milford and Key Hyundai of Manchester are proud to be Connecticut drop off locations for the 30th Annual We Are The Children Toy Drive to benefit children in need right here in Connecticut.

And I’d doing even more: for every car sold at Key Hyundai, the Key Hyundai team is making cash donation to support We Are The Children fund.

Drop off New Toys at Key Hyundai of Milford and Key Hyundai of Manchester

All toys should be new and unwrapped, and dropped off before December 17th. The toys will be distributed during the annual We Are The Children Holiday Party on December 25 11-2:00pm at the Hartford’s XL Center, where this Dealer For The People will be volunteering.

We have a long history of supporting local, community events, and this holiday season is no exception: we are pledging a per vehicle cash donation directly to We Are The Children fund for each car sold between now and Christmas Day.

I want to hand over a big fat check to Gary Craig and We Are The Children on behalf on the customers and employees at Key Hyundai. There’s no better cause than making kids happy, and this group has been working hard at it for years.

Key Hyundai employees, customers, and vendors support the We Are The Children Toy Drive and plan to make this a fantastic party for CT’s children. For updates and be part of the party, visit the 965tic.com website, or follow Key Hyundai of Facebook for frequent updates on this and other local events.

The Dealer For The People Gives Back to Manchester School

Jill Merriam Key Hyundai donates to Bowers Elementary School in Manchester

Key Hyundai’s Service Manager Chris Then, whose wife Leigha is a teacher at Bowers!

Stealing from kids stinks. Some thugs stole $20,000 worth of computer equipment from a Manchester Connecticut elementary school, right in the Key Hyundai community.

Key Hyundai employees first alerted me to the theft at Bowers Elementary School in Manchester, Connecticut, right down the road from the new and used car dealership.

I have elementary kids, and technology is a mandatory component of education today, and my mom just retired from being a second grade teacher. I know full well how such a theft can hurt the psyche and spirit of the school, and set the learning back.

So what did this Dealer For The People do?

I quickly rallied my team and before I knew it, we had talked with the administrators and principal at Bowers to get the news out, and donations rolling in.

Thank you to WFSB Chris Collibee, the Manchester Patch.com, and all the twitter and facebook fans in Manchester, Vernon, East Hartford and all over CT that not only want new and used cars from Key Hyundai, but also want to be part of the solution when crisis strikes.

On behalf of Key Hyundai team of solution providers, I dropped off a check for $2,000 to begin replacing the stolen equipment so the kids can get back on line ASAP, and know that their business community is a partner with the schools.

Want to help? No donation is too small, and will go DIRECTLY to replace the stolen equipment.

To donate, send any amount ($2, $5, $10) to Patricia Brooks, Asst to Superintendent of Finance & Mgmnt, 45 N. School Street, Manchester CT 06042. Note “Bowers Computer replacement.” The school will send a tax-donation letter upon request!

Hurricane Sandy pummeled Connecticut, and I sure hope you are safe and out of harms way. The Key Hyundai family is good, thanks to the kindness of employees, customers and yes, even strangers, but as the news attests, not everyone fared so well.

Damage to homes, cars, and property is devastating, yet I am amazed at how people come together to support one another during such crisis.

Key Hyundai of Milford and many of our friends, employees and customers remained without power during the aftermath from Hurricane Sandy, operating a command center out of our Hyundai dealership in Vernon, CT (Key Hyundai of Manchester), until power restored in Milford days later.  Employees teamed together to get power, assist customers, and help each other. It was, and is, amazing.

Storm Sandy FOOD COLLECTION at Key Hyundai

We are now actively collecting non-perishable food items and toiletries at Key Hyundai of Milford and Key Hyundai of Manchester for our CT friends and especially the seniors living along the CT coast in Milford, East Haven, Stratford, and Bridgeport.

Please drop off what you can at Key Hyundai, and we’ll be sure to get these items in the hands of those who need them most!

With the power just recently restored, I must publicly acknowledge and thank our first responders, utility workers, tree workers, town officials, local businesses, media, social media, and friends, family and neighbors who repeatedly team together when crisis strikes.

It never ceases to amaze me the power of the human spirit.

A very special thanks to the Key Hyundai team who even with no power, worked to get our customers what they needed: communication, safety, and sometimes, just a warm cup of coffee, a place to charge cell phones, and a friendly face.
