Dirty Trick Free Zone: Episode #12- Summer Driving Tips- Timing Belt Maintenance

June 1, 2010

In today’s episode of the Car Dealer Dirty Trick Free Zone, I start off my new series of Summer Driving Tips. The summer season has arrived and this is when people seem to drive around the most. Many take road trips and day trips and I think it is important to share my summer driving tips so your car is safe and running at it’s best during this season.

One of the questions I get asked the most is what is really neccessary to get done to your car to keep it running good. As a matter of fact, the other day at my son’s bus stop my friend was asking me about getting her 90,000 mile service done and what she really needed to have serviced. One of the most important things to repalce on your car is the timing belt and this is something that should definitly be replaced whenever the  manufactuer recommends the service be completed.

Your timing belt is so important becusae it is made out of rubber and rubber can both dry out after awhile or even start to tear. If this happens to your timing belt it can lead to mechanical problems and engine failure. My suggestion is to take a look at your owner’s manual and look for when the manufactuer says you should replace the belt and get it done.

If you have any questions about servicing you car please feel free to email me directly at jillcares@keycars.com.   My name  is Jill Merriam, owner of Key Hyundai of Manchester and Key Hyundai of Milford and I am the dealer for the people.
