There’s new auto technology in many new vehicles guaranteed to save lives — Jill Merriam, Dealer For The People, introduced it back in January, but more important than ever this time of year.

Jill Merriam, Dealer For The People at Key Cars of CT, shared this new technology a couple months ago — the rear occupancy warning indicator — something invented out of tragedy in hopes to help save lives. With record temperatures noted across the country, CT too is sweltering, making it more important than ever to be every mindful of the precious cargo in your vehicle.

Listen to this Nicer, Newer News video to learn what Hyundai, Chevy, and others are doing with the rear seat indicator warning, and how this technology should be as common as seatbelts and headlights in vehicles everywhere.

Recorded earlier this year when the weather wasn’t quite as concerning, now we’re in the dog days of summer, and it’s more important than ever to take advantage of this life-saving feature.

Take a listen:

Kids or no kids, the rear seat indicator warning will no doubt help save lives by reminding drivers to check the back seat. This technology is available today, and hopefully becomes a standard feature in the future of all car manufacturers.

What do you think? Are there any other features you think may help drivers to check the backseat prior to exiting the vehicle? We’d love to hear any ideas at wecare@keycars.com. Please drive safely this summer, and always remember to check the backseat.

Be well, Connecticut!
